Enhance Your UX Design with These Best Practices: A Comprehensive Checklist

A Checklist with 150+ usability guidelines and best practices for UX/Product Design.

As a UX Designer, I know the importance of conducting user research to make the most suitable design decisions.

After all:

"Supposing is good, but finding out is better." - Mark Twain.

But great design isn’t about reinventing the wheel. There are some tried and tested UX design principles that can be applied to create intuitive and enjoyable designs - without having to sacrifice creativity.

During my career, I’ve collected the usability guidelines and best practices that I’ve come across. After seeing it grow into a valuable resource library, I decided to share it with other UX’ers and Product peeps.

Let me introduce you to the UX Best Practices Checklist.

The Notion board includes 150+ usability guidelines and best practices for UX and Product Design.

How you can use the checklist

  • Check off a list of hundreds of guidelines when conducting a UX audit or usability assessment

  • Identify areas of improvement in your product

  • Identify usability problems that might hinder you to reach your full potential

  • Get inspiration from visual examples

  • Learn more about best practices and how they affect the usability of a product

  • …or feel free to use it however you find it useful

Things to keep in mind

As always with best practices, there are exceptions to the rules. It’s important to conduct user research and consider business objectives when making design decisions.

I’ve created this library specifically for best practices related to native mobile apps. But most of the tips can be used across multiple platforms.

This is a work in progress. As the field of UX continues to improve and change, so will the best practice guidelines. If you spot anything that’s outdated, please reach out.

I will also keep adding best practices and iterating on the guidelines in this guide, so don’t forget to check for updates.

Hope you find this UX Best Practices Checklist useful. As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts, feedback or suggestions on how this can be improved.
